NDP Wrongly Blame Opposition for Delays in Passing Selinger’s Throne Speech
The NDP brought this procedural nightmare upon themselves and should take responsibility for their mess instead of blaming the opposition: Lamoureux
Winnipeg – Kevin Lamoureux, Deputy Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party and MLA for Inkster, today discredited the claims of Bill Blaikie, NDP House Leader, that there was an agreement made between the NDP and the opposition to facilitate the passing of the Premier’s first Throne Speech.
“There was no such agreement made between the NDP and the opposition. The NDP bungled the planning and execution of this session and simply did not leave enough time to get the job done. They did not count on us wanting to debate other serious issues that are currently present in Manitoba,” said Lamoureux.
Proper legislative procedure requires that there be eight days of debate and voting following a Throne Speech in order for the Throne Speech to be accepted.
