Manitoba Liberals Call on the NDP to Investigate the Quality of Health Care Being Delivered by the Burntwood Regional Health Authority
Given the number of problems that are plaguing the BRHA, the Premier must take immediate action and commit to reviewing the standard of health care being delivered in northern Manitoba: Gerrard
Winnipeg – Jon Gerrard, Leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party and MLA for River Heights, today challenged Premier Greg Selinger to launch an inquiry into BRHA’s delivery of health care in northern Manitoba. Gerrard cited the chronic shortage of surgeons and pediatricians, as well as a number of individual cases involving misdiagnosis and service delays, as proof that an inquiry is needed.
“The BRHA is responsible for the health care of 46,000 Manitobans living in the province’s North and I have grave concerns regarding the quality of the care being delivered there,” said Gerrard.
“The chronic shortage of surgeons and pediatricians is alarming and needs to be investigated. The NDP have allowed two levels of health care to develop in Manitoba. There is one standard for the North and a better standard for southern Manitoba. We have a two-tiered system and people in the North are suffering because of it.”
